Top 5 Tips for Community Building and Engagement

As wellness creators, interacting with students and clients is foundational to your business. Watching them grow and guiding them along their unique journey is just as significant a part of your work.

Community is an essential part of the human experience, and creating a container where your clients feel supported and seen is valuable for everyone involved. With your guidance, clients will more quickly build a sense of belonging and empowerment; you will receive valuable insight about your offerings; everyone will feel a sense of connection to one another and the work.

We wanted to build a space where your offerings and community could live in harmony which is why we created the Community Groups feature within Marvelous.

Maintain engaging and insightful conversations.

Once you have built your Marvelous community, this is where the true work lies. Fostering a space that is engaging and safe will allow your community to blossom and grow. Having built a thriving container for our clients to gather, share, and converse about the most diverse topics, we thought it was only fitting to share some of our insight.

Here are our top 5 tips for community building and engagement:

  1. Set a Group Intention - Upon entering, let everyone know the intention behind the community. What they can expect from you as a facilitator, and what behaviors are acceptable and not. Equip them with on-demand resources that they can turn to whenever necessary, and be sure to provide them with the best way to contact you with any additional questions.

  2. Be Attentive - We can all agree that no one likes to ask questions or share a realization, only to be met with crickets. Responding promptly to your community's questions is exceptionally important; it keeps the conversation going and lets them know they are cared for and important.

  3. Spotlight Your Members - Spotlighting your members is a catalyst to deeper and more meaningful connections among the group. All you need to do is create a fillable form with three questions. Be sure to make one of the questions fun and lighthearted so that your community can learn something that may not have usually come up in conversation.

  4. Celebrate the wins - Create community posts that allow members to brag about their wins! This also weaves the community together as everyone cheers one another along.

  5. Normalize the fails - Should you really bring up the unspeakable fails? The answer is YES! This may sound like a strange tip, but hear us out; it’s almost effortless to get tripped in a mindset block when things don't turn out as expected. Encouraging members to be open about their journey when they share the good and the “bad” illuminates the fact that failure is part of the process.

We know we said five, but here is one more bonus tip 😉:

Include the community in conversation - This might sound confusing, but what we mean by this is that your students and clients that follow your teachings can be a great asset to your community. Inviting them to speak and allowing them to share feedback is an integral piece. This will help you evolve your practice while simultaneously strengthening the community bond.

Community is a fundamental piece you don't want to miss.

Creating a safe space for your clients to connect benefits everyone involved. Not only is this a great way to create more support and value for the individuals involved, but it also provides even more visibility into the needs, wants, and desires of those you serve.
