Choose the Possibilities Instead of the Limitations

Choose the Possibilities Instead of the Limitations

Bringing a business online can feel overwhelming and can seem like there are new demands at every corner. Or it can be fulfilling, rewarding and full of possibilities. It all depends on how you look at it.

As entrepreneurs, established and new, we can easily fall into the trap of placing limitations on ourselves and on our businesses. Whether it is logistics… “I don’t have anywhere to film” or availability… “I’m a mom. I have no extra time.” or costs… “I can’t afford to do this.”

The reply to all of these statements is the same—if you’re called to build an online business, you can’t afford not to.

There are always going to be tasks that need to be addressed (or tackled), but if we shift our mindset from seeing the limitations of the task to one where we look for the possibility in the challenge, we can begin to open our eyes, and souls, to opportunities, both in business and in our personal lives.

To give you examples, let’s go back to the limitations we placed on ourselves and see how we can find a possibility in each.

Logistics - You say you don’t have anywhere to film. Perhaps you don’t have studio space, but you do have a room in your home or you have a park or outdoor space within driving distance. Perhaps, you have a friend that has a porch with a beautiful view. Find the possibilities.

Availability - You are a mom and you have no extra time. I get it. Our founder started Hey Marvelous as a work-from-home mom with a toddler. It can seem like there is never enough time in the day. Take advantage of the nap times and the bedtimes. Make your little one a part of the work time. Set up a section of your desk dedicated to your child so that we you can work together. Use it as an opportunity to teach about work responsibilities and going after what you love. Find the possibilities.

Costs - You can’t afford it. You don’t have to start big. Start small. List out all of the must-haves to start your new venture online and then prioritize those items. Decide what you must have and what can wait. We don’t always “need” what we want. Once you do this, you will see that it is doable. Focus on the possibilities.

Whether the limitations mentioned speak directly to you, or you have your own set that you apply to your life, remind yourself….there is always a way to make your dreams and goals a reality.

When we start finding and focusing on the possibilities instead of the limitations, we change our mindset to one of endless opportunities.

It is in those opportunities that we find ourselves.
